Documents you need

The DNM page for tourists says a tourist enters for rest or leisure and cannot take paid work 1. You need a valid passport, or a valid national identity card if you are a citizen of Brazil, Bolivia, Uruguay, Paraguay, Chile, Peru, Venezuela, Ecuador or Colombia 1. The stay is up to three months and can be extended for a similar period 1. The page does not set out a proof of funds or a return ticket rule 1.

Visas and electronic authorizations

Visa rules depend on nationality. Check them with the DNM or an Argentine consulate before you book.

TIE-24H is an electronic entry authorization from the DNM, created by a joint resolution published on 19 April 2022 as an alternative to a consular visa 2. You apply on the official platform only 2. A consulate reviews the file within 5 business days of the consular fee payment, and the DNM decides within 5 more business days 2. If approved, you have 90 days to enter 2. Fees are not refunded if the request is denied 2.

On 14 January 2026 the DNM said it would accept a United States permanent resident card (Green Card) for entry as a tourist or business visitor, in place of a visa 3. You still need a valid travel document 3. Under Resolución 353/2025, published on 27 August 2025 and in force from the following day, Indian nationals with ordinary passports and a valid United States visa of a similar category may enter as tourists for up to 90 days without an Argentine visa or AVE 4.

Traveling with children

Argentina treats anyone under 18 as a minor 5. Children under 13 who arrive alone, and who are not met by a parent or an authorized adult, need an authorization to enter 5. Argentine and resident children leaving the country need a travel authorization when they do not travel with both parents 5. Foreign documents need an apostille or consular legalization, and a certified Spanish translation if written in another language 5. A pending DNI receipt is not a valid travel document 5.

At the border: biometrics and passenger data

Disposición 843/2012 requires a fingerprint and a facial image from people crossing at the points listed in its annex: Ezeiza, San Fernando and Aeroparque airports and the Port of Buenos Aires 10. Fingerprints are taken from age five 10. Refusing biometric identification stops the crossing 10. The DNM says airlines and shipping companies send advance passenger information (API) 30 minutes before departure, and airlines send passenger name record (PNR) data 48 and 6 hours before flight closing 7. The 2014 rule sets different times, shown on the Spanish page on API and PNR.

On 6 October 2025 the government said 30 self-service migration terminals and 5 identity verification gates were installed in the international arrivals hall at Ezeiza 8. Residents of border towns can enroll for free in biometric terminals for local border traffic, valid for two years, at crossings where the DNM enables them 9. If a terminal cannot validate you, an officer handles your check 9.

Customs and cash

Customs is run by ARCA. You must declare cash or monetary instruments worth USD 10,000 or more, in foreign or local currency 6. The manual arrival declaration forms are OM-2087/G5 and OM-2087/G6 6. This guide did not find the current duty-free allowance on the ARCA page it opened, so check ARCA before you travel.
